Wooden kitchen worktops careWooden kitchen worktops are high quality and durable however sharp objects will scratch the surface. Take precautions such as using a chopping board and lifting rather tahn dragging heavy pans. Wooden kitchen worktops have antibacterial qualities, which make them ideal for kitchen worktops and chopping boards. The worktops may contain knots, natural colour variations and drying splits which are normal features of the product. As our wooden kitchen worktops are supplied untreated we cannot be held responsible for their treatments and installation, which is dependant upon the standard of work of contractors.Before installation Wooden kitchen worktops should be stored flat away from a direct heat source such as a radiator and must be left in the room where they are to be fitted for a few days prior to installation. All freshly plastered walls and brick walls should have completely dried out before the wooden kitchen worktops are introduced to the room. Wooden kitchen worktops need to be oiled on all surfaces with high quality oil such as Danish oil, Rustic oil or Teak oil. At least 2 coats of oil are needed with specila attention paid to the end grain as this is always more vulnerable. After installation of wooden kitchen worktops Wipe surface with a damp sponge then dry surface. After fitting wooden kitchen worktops oil about once a week for the first few months and then as required. With wooden kitchen worktops it is time tor e-oil when it starts to appear dull. This may sound a chore but only takes a few minutes. Do not use concentrated soap or detergent. Do not allow surplus water form wet cloths etc to remain on wooden kitchen worktops. Do not leave wine glasses, dishes containing curry or wet copper bottomed pans to sit on the worktops as is the case with all other worktops. Always wipe off detergent and chemicla cleaners. Wooden kitchen worktops maintenance All spillages should be wiped up immediately as damage/staining may occur if left. Clean worktops with a damp sponge or soapy cloth. Do not allow surplus water from wet coloths etc to remain on the wooden kitchen worktops. Never use steel wool or rough sandpaper on the surface. if polishing is neccessary please use fine grained sand paper 220 or finer. Clean when neccessary with oil. Oil cloths are flammable burn used cloths or keep in a galss container with a lockable top. Do not use bleach, scouring pads or multi surface cleaners. Avoid heat damage, resist putting very hot pans or dishes directly onto the kitchen worktops surface - use heat resisatnt mats. |
