Kitchen worktops are the hardest worked areas and granite worktops are the most durable, easily maintained choice. Granite worktops provide both beauty and elegance that will be appreciated for a lifetime.
Granite worktops are waterproof, stain-resistant and almost
impossible to scratch, and will maintain their diamond-polished
looks for years. Hot pans, spills and every-day activities
pose no problem and cleaning is as simple as a damp cloth,
making hygiene very easy.
Granite worktops could be ideally
suited for your kitchen and bathroom requirements. To help
you decide we have prepared some guidelines. Granite kitchen worktops are
highly heat resistant and hot pans can be placed directly on the
surface for short periods making it ideal in the kitchen. Care should
be exercised if spillages should occur with hot fat or oils and
these should be removed immediately to prevent staining. Granite kitchen worktops
Information- Care and Maintenance Guide - In normal use, clean granite kitchen worktops surfaces regularly with water containing a mild detergent or Neutral Detergent (see above) or a soft cloth or sponge. Rinse off surfaces with clean water. Polish dry with a soft cloth. Alternatively, use our 'E-cloth' surface cleaning system for a consistent smear free finish every time. - Avoid use of abrasive cleaning materials: scouring powders, steel wool, metal brushes etc. - Never use bleach and other chlorine based cleaners, acids, photographic development liquid, alkalis (caustic soda) and concentrated disinfectants on stone surfaces. If any of these come into contact with the granite, clean them off immediately, otherwise surface damage will occur. - Do not allow surface deposits to build up on granite kitchen worktops, e.g., powder detergents, salts. - Strongly coloured foodstuffs, such as blackcurrant and beetroot, can stain stone surfaces. Acidic foodstuffs such as citrus juice, vinegars and cola will etch the stone surface. Clean any spills of these up as soon as they occur. Regular use of the liquid silicone cleaner will reduce the tendency for staining. - Always use pan stands and trivets to protect granite surfaces from hot, rough and wet pots, pans and utensils. Direct contact from iron, steel, ceramic and copper vessels can scratch and stain the stone surfaces. - Always use cutting boards to slice and chop food upon. Never cut directly onto the granite surface. - Granite worktop is a natural material. The variations in its structure, pattern, colour are characteristic and constitute part of its appeal and value. - Over time, with normal kitchen use, granite kitchen worktops will acquire a patina that reflects the use to which they have been put. It is normal for the original high sheen to weather in this way and characteristic for granite worktop to mellow with the passage of time. - Dull patches caused by high wear and surface deposits can be restored by use of our polishing cream which is included in our Home care Kit. |
